San Blas

San Blas was the first Spanish seaport on the Pacific coast.  There is a Mexican Naval Base there.  Those are its only claims to fame.  Except perhaps for the mosquitoes and "no-see-ums".  The town is in a mangrove swamp.  You can take boat tours to see the crocodiles.  I didn't.

The campground was very nice and well-kept.  You can just see our van in the center of the picture. There was only one other rig in the campground this morning and they were leaving.  It is apparently not a big tourist attraction.

Only about 100 yards from the campground is a beautiful beach; almost empty.

There were a few people on the beach.  These are some kids playing in a tide pool at the far end of the beach.

This fruit seller was perhaps overly optimistic about the business to be found on a nice sunny day at the beach.

This fellow selling burro rides was not so optimistic. His dog was not overly energetic either.

The only other people on the beach were sitting in one of several open-air bars called "ramadas".  I think that this is an excellent way to spend a day at the beach.
